Awatea to be Withdrawn in May. Press Association —Copyright. Wellington, Last Night. The Union Steam Ship Company announced to-day that the Awatea will be withdrawn from the trans-Tasman service in May and will lay up at Sydney for overhaul. She will re-enter the service at the end of July. The Maunganui will maintain the service while the Awatea is laid up. During May the Awatea was scheduled to commence her winter timetable, that is, to revert to fortnightly sailings from Sydney to either Wellington or Auckland, and the Maunganui will maintain this service. The Maunganui is due at Wellington on Saturday morning from Sydney and will then lay up until she replaces the Awatea*
