Insurance Companies Negotiating With Government.

Because they claim that many classes of workers’ compensation. insur ance business have been made unprofitable through the extra liabilities imposed by the Workers Compensation Amendment Act of last session, insurance companies have been engaged in negotiations; with the Government which, so far, have proved unsuccessful to bring about an increase in insurance premiurs As an outcome of the refusal of the Prime Minister, .the Hon. M. J. Savage, to authorise an increase in premiums by the State Insurance Department, some ci the small rompab ies have decided to act iv t i ntly of the State office and have circularised their clients intimating increases in subsequent premiums of 15 per cent.
