HONORARY STAFF.
Possible New Policy at Auckland Hospital.
Applications are being invited by the Auckland Hospital Board for 56 positions on the honorary visiting staff. The total strength of the new staff will be the as at present. The board has yet to decide on the term of the honorary appointments. The present staff was elected for two years and prior to that the period was three years. The decision w’illr probably be made at the next meeting of the board on March 16.
The fact that the board has not decided on the term raises the question as to whether the board may be contemplating in the near future the introduction of the stipendiary staff system. It is understood that such a possibility is very remote at the present time. Although the adoption of the stipendiary system has been suggested the question has never been seriously discussed at meetings.
