KERBSIDE PUMP.

Permission For Erection Refused By Council.

An application by Mr R. G. Edwards for permission to erect a kerbside petrol pump in Page. Street was refused by the Borough Council at last night’s meeting. The motion that, permission be not granted was moved by the Mayor, Mr J. W. McMillan, who remarked that there were plenty of kerbside pumps already.

“I don’t think that kerbside pumps should ever have been allowed. I was opposed to it right from the start,” added Mr McMillan. “I Would like to see the Council pass a resolution to remove .them all,” said Cr. A. H. Trotter. In reply to Cr. C. Speck, the Mayor said that the revenue from each pump was £5 per annum. This year £B2 10s had been received in revenue, said the town clerk, Mr G. Grace.
