BUYING SHEEP.
Russian Commission Coming
To New Zealand.
An important contract for the purchase of sheep in New Zealand has been completed by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Compang, Limited, vyCth a Russian organisation. The size of the contract and the number of sheep*—selecited stud rams—likely to be required are not yet revealed, but it is known that the purchases will be considerable.
As an outcome of the contract, a Russian buying commission is to arrive in New Zealand early in March. Ils members are: Mr John Mayoroff (head of the delegation), Mrs Galina Dudarenko and Messrs Ivan Pchelin and Paul Osipov (veterinary surgeons); Messrs Alexander Velikovsky and Boris Gnedash (sheep experts). •All rams selected will be subject to a veterinary examination and test, and all purchases will be subject to prices being competitive. It is anticipated that the rams will be forwarded to Central Asia, where it is intended to establish a stud farm. The Russian buying commission has already made extensive purchases of pedigree stock in Great Britain.
