Tennis Strain. A striking tribute to the skill of John Bromwich, Henry Lindo, Jim Gilchrist, and Arthur Huxley, was paid by a State tennis selector, A. V. Membrey, at a recent meeting of the New South Wales Hardcourt Association at Sydney. In making his managerial report on the tour of Queensland, and briefly mentioning a junior coaching scheme, Mr Membrey said that the four juniors were undoubtedly a Davis Cup team of the future, and that they should worthily follow in the footsteps of Crawford, Quist, and company. “The standard of tennis in Queensland' is high,” added Mr Membrey, “yet these boys astounded critics and players by their skill. However, one thing is certain, and that is that they will have to be carefully, guarded against overstrain and too much tennis. 1 am sure both the New South Wales Lawn Tennis Association and the ,Hardcourt Association will see that this does not happen.”
