STRATFORD B LOSE.
PL4Y AT ELTHAM.
Win For Home Team On First Innings.
Taking first knock in the senior B match against Eltham, at Eltham, on Saturday, the Stratford batsmen failed badly, after 'being given a good start by the opening man, Faulkner, who compiled 26. Eltham took the match, by 81 runs to 60, on the first innings.
The match was a day out for the Eltham bowler, Ward, who took six wickets for 15 runs after the way had been paved by Leatham and Walker. Even cheaper wickets were obtained by Barker, who, brought on late, dismissed three batsmen in four overs and achieved the remarkable figures of three for two.
Aldridge, Cuff and Hickey made six, seven and eight respectively but the other seven Stratford batsmen added only three to the tally. Stratford’s second innings effort to | retrieve the game was little more | effective. This time Cuff saved his side, compiling a brilliant 41, whieli I included the only six of the match and four fours. Stratford retired with 61 for seven wickets. Cowell and Dudley, opening for Eltham, were little troubled by the bowling of Aldridge and Clements and were still at the wicket with 16 and 15 respectively when play was stopped by rain at about 6.30.
