Austria's most famous mountain railway, the Zugspitze Funicular, has been sold to Germany for £9OOO, the greater part of which will be paid in coal. The Funicular is five miles beyond the German border in the Austrian Tyrol. The purchase is joyously hailed by the Nazis as “the beginning of the peaceful penetration of Austria.”
