DEFENCE SYSTEM.
Further Developments Of New Zealand Air Force. Press Association—Copyright. Christchurch, Last Night. Some idea of the extent to which the Government intends to expand the aviation arm of the defence system is. given by the decision to add two now wings to the existing staff accommodation at Wigram. aerodrome . Plans are being prepared and tenders, it is expected, will be called soon. The two new wings will house 80 single airmen and aircraftsmen. Aleady there is accommodation for 80, so that when completed the new buildings will bring the total availably accommodation to —a big establishment even measured by overseas, -standards.
It is believed that all the plant of Wigram, including hangars and repair facilities, will shortly be increased to an extent commensurate with the projected increase in accommodation for the personnel. For more than a year there has, been steady development at Wigram, but the latest proposal is taken to indicate rapid acceleration of the development.
