NORTH SEA RESCUE.
Four Ships Rushed To Aid Of Collier. Oslo, .January 23. A bitter gale* and overwhelming snow blizzards which swept over Norway to-day extended to the North Sea, and four steamers rushed to the aid of the Norwegian cargo steamerKarmt which, heavily laden with coal, was adrift with a crew of 20. A rescue was effected by the mail steamer Leda. The vessel’s hatches were smashed and she- was steadily settling down under the remorseless buffeting of huge seas for four days. The rescue ships were the Danish steamer Tennessee, an unnamed Spanish steamer, the Norwegian steamer Troja, which plugged along at a maximum speed of five knots with the gale in her teeth, and the Leda. The last named was en route to Bergen from England and discharged her passengers at Haugesund, the Karmit’s home port. She proceeded at full speed .to the Karmt, with <loct.org am] medical supplies,
