LOANS HARDLY LIKELY
TO GERMANY. FROM BRITAIN AND FRANCE. Would Probably Utilise Them On Armaments. Press Association—Copyright. Received 1 p.m. London, January 15. The diplomatic correspondent of the Manchester Guardian says that the suggestion that Germatiy will obtain loans from England and France are regarded coldly in London, where it is recognised that such loans would only help rearmament, directly or in directly. Germany's production of war materials has already reached the probable maximum, although she has the plant necessary for replacements. Rearmament is now becoming a matter of building up reserves of raw’ materials and foodstuffs. Defensive preparations, such as fortresses and field works, are still in progress. While England and France are anxious to come to terms with Germany, they realise that her four-year plan aims at a state of preparedness far beyond her immediate defensive needs.
