ORANGE SUPPLIES

Largest Quantity For Many Years. Press Association—Copyright. Wellington, January 7. Suplies or oranges arranged for the present month will be more than twice as large as those available during January of last year, according to a statement by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Hon. D. G. Sullivan. Arrangements have been made for 24,000 cases to be available this month, this being the largest quantity imported during the month of January for many years. Last year 11,000 cases were imported in January compared with 8000 in the same month of 1935, 7000 in 1934, and 6000 in 1933. -i

Plenty of lemons would also be availablet said the Minister. The Tauranga Citrus Asociation had advised his department that it could supply any orders sent to it, but the Surprise thing was that orders were not being received from fruiterers to the extent anticipated.

To meet the demand for oranges during December, the whole of the supplies that were available from Australia were imported, but it was not possible to secure as many as were wanted. As it was, the supplies imported were equal to any that had been brought in during a month of December in recent years,
