Nonogenarian Dies At Carterton.

Carterton, To-day. The dealh took place at Carterton ibis morning of Mr. Humphrey Callister, aged 99 years 9 months. Deceased was born at Jurby, Isle o2 Man, on March 9, 1837. He came to New Zealand when he was 22 years old. He came immediately to Carterton where he took up a bush section. and has remained there ever since. He was the first man in the Wairarapa to grow wheat, and was instrumental in establishing the first school, the first Methodist Church, the cheese' factory', and took part in all progressive moves. His wife predeceased him in March 1923. He leaves a family of five sons and five daughters. Two sous and one daughter have predeceased him.
