France Wishes To Arrange Settlement. Press Association —Copyright. New York, Dec. 1. The New York Times’ Washington correspondent states .that the assist-ant-Secre'tary of State, Mr R. W. Moore, announced to-day that France had expressed the desire to arrange a settlement of her debt to the United States but advanced no specific plan.
Trouble In Greece Freely Reported. o Press Association —Copyright. Received 10.30 a.m. To-day. I London, December 2. Messages from both Athens and Rome hint at trouble in Greece and the arrest of leading political officers who are in a movement subversive to the Government.
Submarine Volcano Again Active. • o Auckland, Dec. 2. Passengers by' the Matu'a,, which arrived at Auckland from Suva to-.' day, saw smoke and fumes rising from the submarine volcano of Honga Tonga, 20 miles from Nukualofa. The} volcano was active in 1911 and again this year.
