HOSPITAL RADIO.
IMMEDIATE ACTON. . J-f Final Appeal To People Of Central Taranaki.
Installation of radio at the Straitford hospital will be begun at once, the radio committee of the hospital board decided at a meeting lash night. Arrangements for the organisation of the drive to raise the necessary funds were made in accordance with a scheme outlined by Mr J. C. Robins, organiser. Members agreed that Central Taranaki support to public appeals has been good in the past. The board in. deciding to authorise the installation was accepting responsibility. If the public did not respond as was hoped the board would be placed in an awkward position. It was thought, however, that if people made the effort the necessary fund would be completed within three weeks. Miss Norma Spearman, who presented a pantomime at Stratford on Tuesday, had agreed to give a repeat performance and to give the proceeds to ’.the radio fund, said Mr (Robins. The Stratford Citizens’ Band was willing to give a concert, for which, the Pll.za Theatre management had agreed to provide its building for a nominal rental.
The holding of a street day at which members of the nursing staff could assist was suggested by Mr N. H. Moss, who considered 'the'borough council would give its consent '*willingly’. Those present were Mr T. R. Anderson (chairman), Mrs R. Shannon and Messrs M. Gernhoefer, N. H. Moss, H. J. Marchant, G. P. Harkness and J. C. Robins.
