DEPRESSION OVER.
Good Times Ahead, Says Dr. J. B. Condliffe. Press A ssociation —-Copyright. Wellington, Last Night. . "There Isn’t any doubt now -thalt depression has passed in most countries, particularly in those which are parties to the now monetary agreement and where exchanges are stable and trade expanding,” said Dr .1. B. Condliffe, of the Economic Secretariat of the League of Nations, today in an interview. “International -trade has up till recently lagged behind the increase in production but is now increasing except in countries which are subject to exchange control and elaborate trade restrictions. This unfortunately includes most European countries so that trade in the rest of the world -was increasing in importance. “The new monetary agreement,” he continued, “lies in the possibility there may' be for freer trade over a much wider area. It is- particularly important that three of the leading countries, France, Great Britain, and the United States, together with other small countries, have agreed to co-operate in working a new system. This is a distinct advance and indeed something new in world history,”
