Five members of the Taupo Squash Club who travelled to Masterton to take part in the Wairarapa Open Squash Tournament recently gained trophies by either winning or being runner-up in their grade. Results were: — Ladies B-grade: Mary Moles beat P. Snowsill (Mast) 3-0, E. Grieve (Khandlh) 3-1, and lost to E. Styles (Mast) 0-3 in the final. Ladies C-grade: Myra Kirk beat S. Turner (Lr Hutt) 3-0, S. Neilson (Mast) 3-1, T. Jones (Mast) 3-1, and lost in final to V. Signal (Fldg) 2-3. Joy Mathie beat S. Jenkins (Mast) 3-0, lost to V. Signal (Fldg) 0-3, beat

F. Spicer (Cartn) 2-0, beat N. Neal (Mast) 3-0 and won the consolation plate by beating S. Neilson 3-1. Ladies D-grade: Fiona Kirk lost to J. Lobb (Pahta) 0-3, beat J. Newlands 3-0, J. Bradley 3-0, and won the plate by defeating N. Weavers (Red Star) 3-2. Men's D-grade: Dick Moles beat K. Falloon (Mast) 3-0, A. Taplin (Red Star) 3-0, R. Allen (Mast) 3-0, D. Signal (Fldg) 3-0, and R. Kay (Mast) 3-1 in final. The results of the Taupo under 15 junior tournament held at the Taupo courts recently were: — Boys under 15: Winner G. Stirling, runner-up A. This tournament which was well attended by juniprs from other Bay of Plenty clubs wa3 a forerunner to the Bay of Plenty championships to be held at Rotorua next weekend.
