Bowling club's position sound
The Taupo Women's Bowling Club is in a sound position, the president, Mrs J. Delany, told the annual general meeting recently. The meeting was held in the club pavilion. Mrs Delany said that with greens near perfect and a membership standing at 46, including five new members, the club was in a sound position — a fact borne out by the balance sheet presented by the treasurer, Mrs S. Hasler. Mrs Delany extended her thanks to Mr R. Hancock for his work on the greens; the outgoing committee members, Mesdames L. H. Dance, E. Ruscoe and helpers for the running of the winter cards afternoons, and to Mrs A. Dahm for the collection of newspapers — two welcome sources of revenue for the club finances. The following officers for the coming year were elected. — President, Mrs J. Delany;
vice-presidents, Mesdames J. Pearce and M. Field; secretary, Mrs J. Potter; treasurer, Mrs F. Davis; auditor, Mr E. Blennerhassett; patroness, Mrs J. Story. Committee: Mesdames Best, A. Dahm, N. Dean, E. Law and E. O'Donnell. Match committee: Mesdames E. O'Donnell, C. Girardin and E. Ruscoe. Social committee: Mesdames L. H. Dance, A. Dahm, R. Bickers and E. Ruscoe. Official coaches: Mesdames M. Nicoll and J. Pearce. During the general business it was decided that a rise in subscriptions was a regrettable but necessary step. Members also voted to reduce the number of runners-up trophies presented for club conipetitions. In closing the meeting, Mrs Delany welcomed her incoming committee and expressed hopes for a successful new season.
