FINED $100
A 21-year-old Taupo millhand, Robert Arapeta Reihana, was fined $100, court costs $5, and ordered to make restitution of $4.10 when he pleaded guilty in the Taupo Magistrate's Court on Tuesday to a charge of breaking and entering the Waipahihi Dairy on December 12. Senior Sergeant R. Moncur told Mr M. C. Astley S.M., that at 2.05 a.m. on December 12 Reihana was seen by a local resident standing outside the doorway of the dairy. He was seen to kick in a glass panel on the front door and enter the shop. The resident telephoned the police and Reihana was located and arrested at a party in the vicinity a short time later. Reihana had taken 12 packets of cigarettes from the dairy and had handed these around at the party He had no explanation to offer for his actions. Mr Astley described the offence as a drunken escapade. "If you get into trouble again you will probably go to prison," he warned Reihana.
