Trepanning — 3000 years ago

The Latvian archeologist William Derums has found a skull in a Bronze Age settlement bearing clear traces of a trepanning operation carried out 3000 years ago. X-ray examination showed that the ancient surgeon adeptly removed pieces of bone from the skull, and scars show that the patient* survived.
