Mr Hamish Donald, a Takapau (Hawke's Bay) young farmer, has been awarded the 1971 Bank of New South Wales travel bursary of a three months visit to Westem Australia. The bursary, which is awarded each year, enables an outstanding member of the New Zealand Young Farmers movement to visit Australia and study various farming methods and techniques. Mr Donald is presently farming on his father's property of 560 acres carrying sheep and cattle and cropping wheat, barley and oats. Apaxt from 380 cattle, last season they wintered 1100 ewes which they hope to increase to 2000 next year.
