RADIO AGAIN
Sir,— Like Mr Klyen I feel that the radio station, 1ZA, is superfluous. I will even go further to say that as it stands at the present it is a costly "white elephant". We Taupo residents may well ask ourselves, what purpose, other than the plugging of local shopkeepers wares, this station serves. As it now stands it's neither flesh nor fowl; it has neither improved 2YA's reception, nor given us a fresh interesting programme. It even interferes with 2YA's programme, but of course this will be overcome — how nice for the "competent radio technician" — as nice as it was, no doubt when the booster for Tv was shifted. This community desperately needs a four - bed hospital, and as we go to vote in the next election, the "white elephant" and its lovely red light will remind us how to use that vote. — Yours, etc., "MAN IN THE STREET"
