CONCERN AT DELAY IN VALUATIONS
Concern at the lack of progress by the Valuation Department in dealing with the Taupo County Council' s objection to values fixed for Mangakino properties was expressed at a meeting of the Mangakino Town Committee last week. It was pointed out that the objection was lodged with the department last November. Eighty houses which were still listed on the valuation roll as Crown property had in fact been privately owned for more than 12 months, it was stated. The lack of progress had meant that the Taupo County Council had struck .a rate for Mangakino without all properties being on the roll, thereby causing a disparity in the rating of the town, and also increasing the Electricity Department's subsidy toward maintenance of the town.
