WELFARE LEAGUE
TURANGI. (OC) The monthly meeting of the Turangi-Pihanga Maori Women's Welfare League, presided over by Mrs R. Hauraki, was held at the Turangi District High School 1 o ra 4- yttAAIT
* ( The guest speaker was Mr j Rogers, superintendent of the Tongariro* Prison Farm. He voiced his appreciation of the league's efforts in the past toward the rehabilitation of inmates of the prison farms in the neighbourhood and discussed further ways in which inmates could he helped. At the conclusion of his address, he was presented with a pair of miniature poipois by the president. The local branch of the league will be represented by Mrs M. Te Rangiita at the Dominion conference at Palmerston North. The league has done much good work over the years and in the past 12 months has been able to assist in various ways at the Turangi school, the Turangi play centre and the boy scouts.
