BASKETBALL AT TURANGI

TURANGI. (OC) Turangi basketball sub-as-sociation's monthly meeting was held last Thursday evening, July 15, at the Turangi School. A field day is to be held at Taumarunui on July 24 and it was decided to send circular letters to all the teams in the sub-association, giving details of the field day.

The representative of the Post Office team Miss Yvonne Te Rangi advised that the team had withdrawn from the competition as many of their players had left the district. This means that a new draw would be made up for the second round of the competition. A meeting is to be arranged to give referees the opportunity to discuss rules and their interpretation, with a view to improvingj the standard of basketball played in the district. The results of Saturday's games were: TaurangaTaupo 28, Fletcher's Mill 3; Tongariro 21, Kuratau 4; Turangi High School 14, Kaimanawa 10.
