Free Bus For Turangi-Taupo?
Turangi residents may soon be able to take advantage of a free bus service to Taupo on Friday nights. A group of Taupo businessmen are considering the possibility of providing the service until the new township's own shopping area is built.
A spokesman for the group, Mr J. S. Lockyer, said the proposed service would primarily serve the needs of the single men in the area, but would be
available to all who cared to use it. The bus would leave Turangi at 6 p.m. on Fridays and Taupo at 9.15 p.m. on its return. Some years ago a similar service was introduced and proved most successful and popular. It is understood the Taumarunui Chamber of Commerce will discuss a similar move at its meeting on July 21. The chamber at that tirne expects to set up a branch to be known as the Associated Retailers.
