TRAFFIC HAZARD
Sir, — I must join with your correspondent K. Parkes of Lower Hutt, in his criticism of the traffic islands at the. northern end of Tongariro Street. I use this intersection at least four times daily and while I agree that the islands are necessary, I too feel that those lying north and south could well have been sited several feet
nearer to the reserve side of the roadway. If the traffic islands are to remain in their present position, rigorous enforcement of the angle parking prohibition outside the adjacent shops is necessary. At times there is barely room for one lane of traffic at this point added to which there is the hazard of vehicles, which have been parked in that area, backing out into the line of traffic. - — Yours, etc.,
M. F.
McGEHAN.
