Mayor Thanked
The following letter has been received by the Mayor of Taupo, Mr J. E. Story, from the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Fergusson, after his recent visit to the town. 1 "I write to thank you | very sincerely indeed for | all the pleasure you gave us | on our visit to Taupo. We ! could not possibly have en- ! joyed ourselves more than ! we did, except by staying | longer, which we wish we ! could have done. i - "It was a delight to meet you. the Mayoress, and so ! many other Taupo people both pakeha and Maori. It gave us joy to see so many magnificent children. "I have never in mv 54 years been wished a happy birthday by so many people | publicly. .1 "Somehow the proceed- : ings were so friendly and person al and through them came bubbling up an | obviously sincere love and i loyalty to Her Majesty The jQueen."
