More Rooms For School At Whakamaru

The South Auckland Education Board has called tenders for the building of two new classrooms and additional administration space at Whakamaru School. An approach was first made to the board in 1961 for the building of two permanent classrooms to eliminate the two-room prefab which has been in use ever since the school was bullt. The growth of the N.Z.E.D. village In the area, which has maintained the number of pupils attending the Whakamaru School is the main reason for building the two permanent classrooms.
