TRAFFIC CASES BEFORE COURT
Transport Department prosecutions in the Magistrate's Court at Taupo in cluded a charge against George Habib of using an unlicensed motor vehicle near Wairakei on September 9. Mr W. A. Harlow, S.M., stated that such cases were regarded seriously by the Court, for an unlicensed vehicle was uninsured. He imposed a fine of £17 10s, with costs £1. For carrying a pillion passenger on his motor-cycle, Anthony Mariu, a new applicant for a driver's licence, was fined £2 10s, with costs £1, while for exeeeding 40 miles per hour with a pillion passenger he was fined £3, costs £1. For driving at 45 miles per hour on the Lakefront high^ way in the Borough, where there is a 30 m.p.h. restriction, on November 11, J. M. Butland was fined £2, costs £1.
