COUNCIL BUYS GRADER

The Town Clerk reported at the Borough Council meeting 011 Wednesday, September 7, that advice liad been received that the new grader being purchased by the Council would arrive in Taupo on the tfollowing Friday. Formal advice of the National Roads Board's approval of the purchase had also been received. The total cost of the grader was £7077. On delivery the Council would be required to forward to the National Roads Board a deposit of 12£ per cent. of the cost, namely £963, plus one per cent. added for administrative charges. The balance of the cust would be repayable to the National Roads Board in eight sixmonthly instalments, 5 per cent. interest being charged. The Council decided to advertise for an experienced grader driver, and also to advertise the Oouncil's old light grader for sale by tender.
