Mynas in Taupo Two myngs were seen 011 tlie Sports Ground 011 Monday, August 8, near tlie War Memorial Hall, and it was later reported tliat tliey liad been frequenting the northern end oi the town for sorne days belore tliat. Mr W. J. Stevens states tliat he saw some oi these birds in Taupo about 1921. They have hitlierto not establislied tliemselves in tlie district, however. The species appears to have been introduced into New Zeaiand in tlie 1870's, Irom Australia, whither it was originally imported from India. New Beauty Salon The Lilac Tinie Beauty Salon, first lloor, Odlins' Buildings, Heuheu Street, recently established by Miss Dawn Pearse and Mrs Hilda Pearse, is yet another Taupo business which provides the best and latest in big city service. The latest permanent waving equipment has been installed, the salon has been most attraetively and conveniently designed and decorated, and makes a useful addition to the growing list oi Taupo businesses.
