BOROUGH BREVITIES
Separate Valuations Wanted I11 a letter to the Borougli Gouncil Dr E. H. J. Berry stated tliat lie liad separate titles to two bath-kouse sections and repeated a request for separate valuation assessments. He liad eariier been advised by the Gouncil tliat the Valuation Department, Hamilton, sliould be applied to, but stated that he had notliing to do with tlie Department and it was to the Gouncil | he paid rates and he therefore again ■ asked for separate rate demands. It was pointed out at the Gouncil meeting that the Valuation Department supplied the valuation roll and that the Gouncil could not issue rate demands except in accord with the roll. It was the Deparment's practice to lump valuations together and application to the Department would have to be made for separation. The letter • was received. Hall Rent Concession The Taupo School Commit.tee in a letter to the Borough Gouncil stated that the pantomime production by Higk School pupils was costing considerably more than estimated and, as profits were for the good of the school, the Gommittee would welcome any concession the Gouncil might • think ht to make. Councillors pointed out that the application seeined rather premature as it was made before the performauces were presented. To grant concessions might raise dithculties as there would no doubt be equally worthy causes in the future. It was suggested that if any relief were justifiable a grant from the Gouncil might be a better idea. It was decided to advise the Gommittee that the Council would consider the position j later when supplied with a balance- 1 sheet showing the flnancial result of the pantomime.
