CHARTER AIR SERVICE FOR TAUPO
I Survey Flight Shortly The first survey flight to and round Taupo, in connection with the establishment of an air charter service to provide tourist air travel facilities for those wishing to travel to or from Taupo by air, or to visit points on the Lake by air, is expected to take place early in May. The service is to be run by New Zealand Tourist Air Travel, Ltd., an Auckland, company, and the aircraft
used will be a Grumman Widgeon four-seater amphibian, the type of plane which has been used extensively on similar air services operated in the South Island lake district and between there and the West Coast Sounds. In addition to the Taupo service, the Company also offers services from Auckland to Rotorua, Whitianga, Great Barrier Island, Kawau Island, Russell and Whangaroa. The services will run on a charter basis, at so much per hour flying time, the cost per passenger depending on the number in the party arranging the
trip. It is expected that, when inducement offers, the plane may be stationed at Taupo for periods, and be available to take anglers from Taupo to fishing spots on the Lake shores and vice versa.
