THEY WENT AWAY SATISFIED

186 FISH TAKEN IN WEEK

Messrs. C. Dickie and J. Newland, of Waverley, with four friends completed a successful week's fishing on May 31, with a tally of 186 fish, taken bothi on the fly and trolling, in seven days. The party fished various localities on both the western and eastern shores of the Lake, from the launch Victory. Mr Dickie stated that they had been coming to Taupo five times a season for twenty years, and that this week's fishing had been the best yet. Twenty-five per cent of the fish had been over six pounds in weight the heaviest being eight pounds, and twenty-five per cent weighed from four to six pounds. Twentyseven fish only out of the total of 186 were in poor condition, the smallest number of "slabs" they had taken for many years.
