COL. LINDBERGH VISITS HUKA LODGE
Colonel Charles Augustus Lindbergh, the first man to fly the Atlantic, which he did in an epic solo ffight in May 1927, spent a short visit at Mr Alan Pye's Huka Lodge, Taupo, last week. He arrived at Whenuapai Airport on Wednesday November 25, and within minutes of landing was en-route for Taupo. He left for Fiji by Pan-American plane the following day. Col. Lindbergh is an adviser to Pan-Ameri-can Airways. He did no fishing but paid a visit to Mr Ron Houghton's "smoker" and was given a good Taupo smoked trout to take with him on his return to America. Sampling a smoked trout he commented to a friend, "Boy, is it good!"
