LONG SERVICE WITH LOCAL BODY
MR TONY TIERNEY At the last^monthly meeting of the Taupo Borough Council the Town Clerk, Mr S. Torepe, reported that Mr Tony Tierney had given notice of his intention to relinquish his position on the Council's staff. Mr Tierney's son, Mr Maurice Tierney, was to commence business in Taupo as a butcher and his father would be entering his employ. Councillors expressed their regret at hearing of Mr Tierney's decision and referred to the great interest he had shown over a long period as caretaker in charge of the Councii's motor camp, and the tact and energy he had displayed in carrying out his dutles. Resolutions were passed accepting Mr Tierney's resignation with regret, and expressing the Council's appreciation of Mr Tierney's services. Mr Tierney entered the employ of the Taupo Road Board some seventeen years ago, and has had charge of the Motor Camp since its establishment in the Domain. He has had. longer service with the local body than any offieer since it was first established as a Road Board. During the years he has been in charge of the Camp Mr Tierney has become known to hundreds of campers who have been regular visitors to Taupo, and who have appreciated hjs cheerful- services.
