Businessmen's Association

The monthly committee meeting of the Taupo Businessmen's Association, held on Tuesday 15th, discussed community lighting. Ihformation was to hand covering conditions in a number of towns and it was decided that the Associ iation would itself handle the matter, it being the usual arrangement for a body such as a Chamber of Commerce, or Businessmen's Association, to organise this form of lighting. It is planned to call a meeting of all business people about the end of this month. The Association decided to send a protest to the Government in connection with the non-comple-tion of work on the RangitaikiTerraces Hill section of the NapierTaupo main highway, it having been reported that the heavy machinery assembled for this job was now being removed. A discussion took place in connection with the nomination of candidates at the forthcoming election for Borough Councillors. It was decided to nominate several Asociation members and to support others and to finalise the matter at a later meeting.
