POST-PRIMARY NEWS For the Taupo District High SchooFs Post-primary DepaaYment 1953 has been an auspieious year. For the first time, since its inception in 1951, representative teams hav(e played inter school matches, and a dance has been held. The Basketball and Rugby Football teams recently travelled to Mangakino, whea-e, although defeated in both matches, they performed extremely well against more .experienced teams. With a breakdown and a puncture on the homeward journey to add to the occasion, high spirits still remained. It is hoped that in the near future games will he played against Putaruru. First School Dance. On Wednesday night, July 1st., the staff, pupils, parents and v invited friends gathered at Rickit's Hall to initiate the first Post-primairy School Dance. For many of the pupils it was their first dance, as the comingout frocks and suits indicated. Judging by the enjoyment that they obtained from this occasion, future dances are assured of success. The winners of the Monte Carlo were Mr R. Clark and Mrs M. Clark. In the Mexican Monte Carlo Misses B. Walters and L. Denize tied for honours, with Mr J. Woodward as pairtner. The music was provided by Miss J. Smith and Mr J. Davies, and judging by the applause was very well accepted. The duties of M.C. were carried out veiry capably by Mr K. Bogue, assisted by Mr R. Clark. The Staff and Pupils wish to thank all who assisted toward the success of the evening.
