Reason for Shut-downs.
The main reason for power shutdowns arises from the need to ensure the safety of the men engaged on the retieulation of the town. When low-tension lines, for example, are being run on the same poles as the high-tension lines, it is necessary to cut off the power while the men are working close beneath them. The work, however, is planned to minirnise fhe occasions when power must be cut off. •Station 1YZ is the regional station for the Taupo Gountry and the Bay of Plenty, and reception is good in Taupo.
