PRESENTATION TO CARNIVAL ORGANISER

A pleasant interlude at the publie meeting convened by the Taupo War Memorial Hall Assoeiation and held in Rickit's Hall on Thursday evening last. was a presentation made to Mr J. D. Swan, Organiser of the recent Carnival held under the auspices oi the Assoeiation. The presentation consisted of a vacuum cleaner and acc^ssories and was made by Mr W. L. Haines, Chairnfan of the Committee of the Business Men's Assoeiation on behalf of the business people of Taupo. Mr Haines referred to the hard and sustained work put into the' Carnival by Mr Swan, and also .mentioiied the iarge amount of work which had fallen on Mrs Swan. Mrs K. Reid, as a member of the Assoeiation Committee, also referred to the way in which Mrs Swan had assisted. In expressing thanks on behalf of Mrs Swan and himself, Mr Swan said that the presentation had come as a complete surprise. He referred briefly to the eampaign, mentioning the work done by Assoeiation members, pafticularly the service rendered by Mr W. Stevens as Chairman, who had undertaken ihe Chairmanship at a tirne when there had been difficulty in securing oue. He also mentioned the work done by Mrs Swan, who had driven some thirteen hundsred miles and whose help had made his efforts pbssible.
