CRICKET

EARLY PROGRAMME SPOILT The bad weather of the past few weeks which has interfered with sport all over the country, togethei with, transport diffieulties have combined to ruin the first half of the season for cricketers. After a late start was made with a match against Reporoa, three other fixtures were arranged and cancelled owing to one or other of these reasons. Then when it was hoped to get one more match before the holiday period the team travelled to Kaingaroa Forest. The morning's play produeed 40 minutes cricket broken by two stoppages for rain and finally at lunch the heavens opened and the game was abandoned shortly before 3 p.m. The score at the close was Kaingaroa 50 for 3 wickets, of which S. Roswell scored 25 not out. Frank McLean took one wicket for 9 runs Collett one for 3 and Sam McKean one for 16.

JANUARY MATCHES It is hoped to arrange for a Visitors' XI to play against Taupo on January 11th next. Will any visitors please get in touch with G. A. Acres, P.O. Box 199, Taupo or telephone 251. Other fixtures in January will probably include home matches against Works Dept., Rotorua, and against Taupo Golf Club.
