Mr B. Frecklington, of Waitahanui, was recently victimised by a particularly mean bit of sneak-thieving. He was out in his boat, which' he had launched from the beaGh on rollers, leaving these behind. While out on the Lake he saw another craft appiroach the beach and after a brief interval depart in a different direction. When he returned to the beach his rollers had gone. He has an idea of the identity of those in the other boat, and would feel obliged if they would be sensible enough to rettarn his property. ★ An alarm of fire was raised on Wednesday last when the flame of a primus in Mr Ozston's house in Heu Heu Street set fire to a curtain. The outbreak was observed by Mr Noel East, next door, who rushed in and quickly suppressed the outbreak. ★ Fly fishing on the beach at Whanganui last week Mr C. R. Carlyon, of Hawkes' -Bay, landed a brown trout in very fine condition and weighing a little over 9 1b. \ ★ The well known fishing tackle firm of Frost and England Ltd. which last year was taken over by Messrs R. P. and R. G. Sanderson is now known as R. Sanderson. Ltd. The proprietors were very busy during the past winter preparing for the new season, and amongst other things they have cleared away a number. of trees which previously obscured their premises at Turangi on the road to Wellington. ★ The Taupo BusinessmeiTs Association is holding its annual general meeting on Tuesday, November 18, when the result of their fii'st year of activities will be reviewed and the usual formalities of electing officers will take place. It is hoped to pub-

lish extracts from the annual report in next week's issue. ★ - On November 1st. a first class concert was given by the Napier Magicians* Society and Miss Lee's pupils from Cambridge, with local artists. Rickit's Hall was hlled to capacity and after the performance the visitors were entertained at a dance by the Taupo Girls' Marching Club. In the afternoon a vea^y successful bririg and buy was held.
