TAUPO CRICKET CLUB
Annual Meeting The president, Mr G. Patchett, was able to report upon the completion of a most successful year when he took the chair at the annual meeting of the Club last Thursday. The playing record showed 12 wins in 15 matches and the financial position showed a small net profit on the season after majoir repairs to the mat had been- efrected. Appreciation was expressed in the report for the invaluable assistance given hy the ladies in che provi-sioii. oi atatu qon tea at all home matches, and also to Mr Pennycuik for his generous donation of a hat for the best allrounder in the coming season. . The officers elected for the ensuing seascn wore as follows: — — Patron, Mr J. L. Blundell; president, Mr G. Patchett; vice-presidents, Messrs V. Geoghan,^I. Pennycuik and L. Stephenson; hon. secretary, Mr A. J. Collett; committee, Messrs S. McKean, A. M. McKean and G. A. Acres. Prospects for the coming season are good, but the club has suffered severe lo^ses in the transfer during the winter of J. Loughlin to Dannevirke, followed by the departure next week of I. Strange for a new post at Taihape, whilst G. Patchett and R. leaie will be unable to turn cut regularly. To offset this there are several new arrivals, and H. Sunnex who was bowling well at the.beginning of last season, expects to be able to play throughout the year. Travelling is always a problem to Taupo cricket teams, but it is hoped that most of last year's fixtures will be repeated in 1952-53, and efforts will be made to obtain fixtures against new opponents at Rotorua and other centres.
