TAUPO v. PUTARURU The second match for ihe- Ewart Sliield was played at Taupo links on Sunday, October 12. The Putaruru team started with a lead of 17 points to Taupo 's 8, the result of the match played at • Putaruru in May. Despite the fact that Taupo was playing on its own course, Putaruru retained the shield at the end of the day by 11 points — 31 to 20. The matches played were: (Taupo names first), Graham beat Freeman; Falkner beat Andrews; Rameka beat Suridge; E. Smith lost to Pasey; Wilson lost to Marshall; Brown beat Spraggon; Cheal lost to Sherley; Stephenson lost to Bradsha w ; Woodward lost to Work; Pearse lost to Hamilton; Price halved with Rossiter; and Potts lost to Speir; Miss Branson beat Mrs Hamilton; Mrs Vedder Vedder lost to Mrs Freeman; Mrs Hullten beat Mrs Richworth; Miss McKelvie lost to Mrs Smith; Mrs Douglas lost to Mrs Martin; Mrs Colbeck beat Mfs Simpson.
