TAUPO TENNIS CLUB
A large crowd gathered at the Taupo Tennis Courts on Sunday, October 12th., where players put on a fine display during a "sweep" organised by the tennis committee. Among the exciting matches was that played between S. George and B. Nankivill against K. Simon and G. Pearse. Despite S. George's steady play and B. NankivilTs stinging net shots; K. Simon-s hard hitting and G. Pearse's well-placed drives finally won them the match (8.6). The results of the tournament are .-as follows: — (winners names first). First ronnd: S. George and B. Fulljames and J. McLeod (8.4). M. Brown and P. Simon v. A. Seymour and N. Rickitt (8.5). L. Sutcliffe and D. Rameka v. D. Rimmer and N. Neal (8.4). Second round: K. Simon and G. Pearse v. S. George and B. Nankivill (8.6). Mrs Blake and R. George v. W. Hurae and B. Davis (8.4). M. Brown and P. Simon v. L. Sutcliffe and D. Rameka (6.1). Semi-finals: K. Simon and G. Pearse v. 2v Irs Blake and R. George (8.6). Finals: K. Simon and G. Pearse v. M. Brown and P. Simon (6.3).
