WEDDING

NGAMOTU — WALL The marriage was solemnised on September 27th., of Parehuia, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Ngamotu, and Meiha, fifth son of Mr and Mrs Dick Wall (Waitahanui), at. Kuiwai Hall, Waipahihi Pa. Mr George Hallett, of the Ratana Church offieiated. The bride looked charming in a gown cf white slipper satin, styled with a fitting bodice, which buttoned qown the back, Peter Pan collar and full skirt which fell to a train at the back. The embroidered, full length, tulle veil was worn with a coronet of artificial lily-of-the-valley, lilies and Silver leaves. The bride carried a beautifu! bouquet of white camellias, freezias, and boronia. The bridesmaids, the Misses Kameria Whiu and Delia Murphy, wore dainty full length frocks of blush pink\ slipper satin made similarly to the bridal gown. Sprays of. pink roses and silver leaves were worn on their heads, and they carried shower bouquets of pink carnations, marguerites, tulips and boronia. Two small f lower girls, Mihi Blake and Kahurangi Ngamotu, looked sweet in pastel pink satin backed crepe frocks, made with Peter Pan collars, with three tiers of tucks on the bodice 'and full skirts, tied at the waist with sashes of the same material. Top-knots of pink flowers and silver leaves were worn on their heads. The best man was Mr Tai Wall and the groomsman, Mr Gary Whiu. The wedding breakfast which was served in the Kuiwai Dining Hau, was a very lavish spread, the tables were covered with blue and white tablecloths and were decorated with flowers and greenery. )Mr Hallett and Mr Ted Blake greeted the Pakeha and Maori guests and in their speeches wished the young couple every success for their future. The wedding presen^s were on play and they were very handsome gifts.

Visitors to Taupo for the occasion came from Auckland, Te Puke, Murapara, Rotorua, Tokaanu, Tarawera, Waitahanui, Hatepe, Mokai, Oruanui and Napier. There were filso a large number of local guests. The Waipahihi Marae Committee and the^narents of the bride are to be congratulated on the warmth of their hospitality and for the excellent way they catered for such a large crowd. * * * ST. PAUL'S MISSION ARY UNION iSt. PauTs Presbyterian Women's Missionaiy Union, and Busy Bees, held their annual sale in Rickit's Hall on Saturday, October 4th. The attendance was considerably affected by a steady downpour of rain which continued practically all day. The stalls were well filled, however, and buying was brisk on the part of those brave enough to face the elements. Willing workers served lunch and afternoon tea. The days takings resulted in the sum of something over £70 being made available for the Home and Overseas Missionary aetivities of the Presbyterian Church.
