Charlie Chaplin On Saturday There is an unusually attractive pi ogramrne of f eatures to be screened at the Majestic Theatre this week. Tonight (Wednesday), and at Te Rangi-ita on Thursday, October 10, there is to oe presented the M.G.M. adventure drama "Vengeance Valley" starring Burt Lancaster, Robert Walker and Johanne Dru, in a Westem thriller in Technicolor. For Friday there is a double feature programme which on account of the length of film, is scheduled to j commence at 7.45 p.m. instead of 8 p.m. "Backfire," described as an action thriller, is concerned with a mysterious disappearance and the activities of a "killer." Virginia Mayo and Gordon MacRae head the star cast of this Warner film. Blood on the Moon," the companion film, stars Robert Mitcham, Barbara Bel Geddes and Robert Preston in a Westem thriller, with the typical incidents of cattle round-ups and gun play. Charlie Chaplin, in "City Lights," is the star attraction for Saturday. The film was produced and directed by Chaplin himself, and is described as one of the greatest comedies of all time. Associated with him are Virginia Cherill and Harry Myers. The incidental music was also composed by Chaplin. 'the result is one of his greatest of many triumphs.
