BETH DEAN NEXT WEEK The visit to Taupo of a celebrated danseuse is a unique event, for which thanks are due to the Community Arts Service. Beth Dean's appearance here on Thursday, October 2, with Victor Carell, baritone, and Fanny McDonald, pianist, is therefore being looked forward to with keen interest. Wh,ile Beth Dean has gained success jfor her dance technique and interpretive powers in classical baliet, it is even mere as an exponent of the dances of many native peoples that Beth Dean has become celebrated. She is passionately interested in this aspect of her art. Her repertoire include the dances of various American Indian tribes, of the Aztecs of Peru, the Australian aborigines and others. She is recognized as an expert in these matters: the Universities of Oxford and Rome, and the American Museum of Natural History in New \ ork, have invited her to give lecture recitals within their walls. Victor Carell is a baritone from the Chicago Opera. He studied for three years at the Conservatorium of St; Cecilia, Rome. For two years he sang leading baritone roles with the Chicago Opera. k
