C. A. S. THEATRE

"CAPTAIN CARVALLO" ConsiderabJe interest is being shown in the coming C.A.S. Theatre performance in Taupo of ^Captain Carvallo." This sparkling comedy is the work of Denis Cannan, a young Englisli actor and playwright. It had its first production at the Bristol Old Vic two years ago, followed a few months later by a season at the St. Jame's Theatre, London, under the direction of Sir Laurence Olivier. The name part in the play is taken by Barry Linehan, formerly of the Ilford Reperfcorv Theatre, who took part in the highly commended N.B.S. production oi "Moby Dick.,, Barry Linehan played with distinction in each of the recent productions of the Auckland Drama Council, "The Lady's ^ot For Burning" last year, "Wincerset" this year, and quite recentfy , in the Council's contribution to the Auckland Music Festival, "The Cocktail Party," in which he took the, leading part, of Reilly, the psyehiatrist. The part played in Sir Laurertce's production by Diana Wynyard will be taken by Margaret Simmons, who ^as made a name for herself in recent -/.A.S. performahces. Other mem•>ers of the company already known to C.A.S. audiences include Kenneth Ling, the delightful Launcelot Gobbo : of "The Merchant of Venice,,, Elean- 1 /r Elliot, Keith Bracey and Roderick Horn.
